Artist's Comments

This is the French cover art for the tremendous Book "The name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss.

I Tried to be quite close to the book, in the spirit. For those who had the chance to read it, let's say this is more another vision of Kvothe's legend, that the real one.

Wickid. Great sense of space.
Did you start with the background and add the foreground character after?

Hey thanks a lot for your comments!

Pondocus: In fact, when I made the rough I did everything at the same time, in order to have a good idea of how the whole thing was like.
Later I worked with different layers to make it more simple.

Beautiful work, it definitely reflects the spirit of the book, just wish my copy had cover art like this. :D

Death had tried firey steeds and skeletal horses in the past and found them impractical, especially the fiery ones, which tended to set light to their own bedding and stand in the middle of it looking embarrassed

This is awesome, I didn't read the book but if it's as good as this illustration, I'll go buy it today!
