Greyjoy's castle, ASOIAF... by MarcSimonetti Greyjoy's castle, ASOIAF... by MarcSimonetti
This is the cover art for " A song of ice and fire" by GRR Martin.

I tried to depict the mood around Greyjoy's castle. The knight symbolizes the other part of the kingdom more than a "real" character from the book itself.

I hope you'll like it!

You definitely did a great job capturing the sullen, gloomy feeling of the keep. :) I always pictured the wooden bridges to be higher above the water, but your interpretation is no less valid. Beautiful painting!

I've been debating picking up one of his books - a cover like this might just put me over the edge and make me finally start reading his work - it's wonderful!!!

It's amazing how the cover of a book can either make or break it. So many times I pick up a book and the cover is just not interesting and it doesn't make me WANT to read it.

I'm just glad if it makes you wanting to read the book. That's my main goal when making a cover art, and to be close to the story and mood too.

The song and fire books are just great books: I read them before being an illustrator, and I already loved them then.

One of these days I'll read some of his work, and hopefully I'll get to this book and I'll recognize the work and be able to say "hey - I know this guy!! (well, sort of... ;)"
