Wonderful, as always - As a feminist, however, it is my duty to ironically say "The armour is written in the stats". The difference between the man's and woman's armour is striking, and I don't really like it- just, why wouldn't the guy have so little armour? Maybe just pants and a tank top? Because that's basically what the girl is wearing. So, although the work itself is stunning, I'm having a big problem with the depiction of genders. It's like that in almost every game like this, and it's outright annoying. I understand that it's a request by someone (or your own vision, I don't know), but I'm just stating my opinion and as much as I'd like to affect some people with it at some point, I hope it doesn't offend anyone (she might be a little bit cold, too, considering there's ice all around)
The answer is simple: He's a warrior, and she's a witch. Considering the fire she isn't cold at all, while the poor man is far too hot, but needs his armour anyway. I totally understand your point of view, but this illustration is clearly a reference to Frazetta's work. Each time artists make reference to past times art the same "clichés" are used...At least visually.
I think feminists often choose the wrong targets, dealing with the consequences and not the causes: it's pointless.
This is a clear reference to Frazetta's art and "Metal Hurlant", and it was a part of the brief of the commission. If you want to defend the women cause, I'm fine with it, then deal with all the advertisements, for cars, hip-hop, shampoo, perfumes, washing stuff, toys for young girls etc, etc... Maybe the witch likes to be dressed like that, because she assumes she can be sexy, and smart at the same time. You would have noticed that she isn't showing both her butt and her breast, that she is kneeling but is not holding the hero's knees... She's not submitted at all.
Funny that the other ones that want lesser nudes women are on the other side religious fanatics, but against women's freedom this time.
Maybe you should check all my other works BEFORE making that kind of comment. You'd have seen that it's maybe the only one cover that way. Pointless comment.
Hey Marc, I love it man. Within the first second I was thinking, this kind of reminds me of Frazetta, it just has that feel. I think there will always be people who will have something to gripe about your work, but thankfully they are the minority. Keep rockin the great work.
