the light of the candles remind of me the clear obscure technique, I love this style. The details of the books and the table are wonderful. Great work !

If a sundial is inside a building, how accurate would it be? I don't think it would be very accurate but I am just thinking about how light works in relation to building walls.

Not a very useful sundial. The Sun can only get down there for an hour or two, and probably only certain times of the year. (It's the curse of being an astrophysicist by training.) :)

Really, though, it is very well done. :)

I again love the design here. You've managed to leave room for title and author without causing the painting to look blank in any areas. Gorgeous work.

Thanks all!

Ratzgoblin: In fact I read all the books, for my pleasure indeed... Sometimes I have to create something in the same universe but not described in the book, like in that example, but most often I have to represent the hero, or an important character.

Eschlehahn: It's in fact inspired by the name of the rose. I love this movie, and it was really appropriate with the book.

Yeah, you're posting again for a long time :D
And you continue crafting masterpieces, cool work, really. I think I am going to find out, what's the books title in my language. But I think, you didn't read the book either, did you? It is surely "only" a job to you.
:+fav: anyway! (maybe because you're the diablo-part artcontest-winner )

This reminds me a lot of the film "The name of the rose" with Sean Connery - such a great film ! :)

And your pic is awesome, too - very atmospheric and so full of detail. Simply stunning !
